Frequently asked questions
Do you store the URL I check?+
We cache the result for 30 days so you can share a link to your report. The URL itself isn't stored beyond that cache, and you can re-run the audit any time.
Are the results really free?+
Yes. No signup, no credit card. The tool is built and run by Byte Size Labs as a way to introduce ourselves to Canberra small businesses.
How is this different from PageSpeed Insights?+
We run the same Lighthouse engine via Google's PageSpeed Insights API, plus 20+ extra heuristic checks for SEO, AI bot policy, AU-specific signals (ABN, .com.au, LocalBusiness schema), and a preliminary Privacy Act check. Plus plain-language explanations and a "fix it yourself or have us fix it" path on each issue.
Can you fix the issues you find?+
Yes — that's our day job. Each issue card has a "Have us fix it" link that pre-populates a contact form with the issue context. We respond within one business day with a quote.
How accurate is the Privacy Act check?+
The Privacy Act check is currently HTML-level only — it looks at your privacy policy link, common tracker URLs, and consent banner libraries in the source. A full audit (real cookie behaviour, third-party data flows) is coming soon as a separate dedicated tool.
What are AI bots and why does the tool flag them?+
AI bots (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended) crawl websites for two purposes: training language models and serving search-time answers. We classify your robots.txt rules so you can see which categories are allowed or blocked. Most businesses want to allow search-time bots (so they can be cited in ChatGPT/Perplexity) even if they block training bots.
